When last did you have a health check up for your body?Your body is irreplaceable (for the most part) and unique. Worth far more than any car (that is being regularly serviced). You deserve at least an annual health check. Can’t afford it?

One penny is not a lot. Many would shun it if it lies on the street. Those who shun the free money also would like to be financially well off. Yet, by picking up the penny they would be moving one step closer to their goal.

As in health, we know what we should eat, yet may not. So in finance. Schools teach many subjects, but many are not taught with practical application. Financial health is poor, and our bank balance may appear undernourished.

We know the importance of looking after our finances when we try to exist on a lack of it. Surviving on £20 a week is an instructive life lesson.

It is pennies that make pounds, and taking the time to plan and exercise a strategy for looking after those pennies is time well spent. Increased financial fitness will be the result.

The disparate division of food on the globe causes problems not only for those who have too little, but the health effects are well known for those who have too much.

The growth of shopping trolleys over the years and marketing methods used to influence people to consume more is well documented. This extra consumption only presents us with increased temptation to eat more.

Often the extra snack, or even meal, is not only extraneous to our body’s requirements, but also a waste of time that could be spent doing something more useful.

One affirmation I’ve used and found it to be a great time saver is to only eat when hungry. If at the end of a long day I’m more tired than hungry I’ll skip having a late dinner rather than just eating to ensure I’ve had a set amount of meals per day. I’ve found late meals to be the one that adds girth to the waist more than any other meal.

This has the added benefit that I awake earlier the next day, with a good appetite for the most important meal – breakfast.

Thankfully there is a entire industry devoted to it.There are many computer games that have been created to assist in rapid eye tracking and muscle motor response.

There are not many who would suck on the end of a lorry exhaust pipe. There are a significant number who would not smoke a cigarette. Why?

Obviously because they would not want to harm their lungs with the deadly pollutants. Strangely, we often do the equivalent and far worse to ourselves.

We pollute our minds. We feed our mind on thoughts which are harmful, and continually ‘smoke’ ideas that do our lives no good whatsoever. What kinds of thoughts?

Negative ones.

We may smoke “can’t do”, instead of drinking “how can I do?” water, or draw on a pipe of “it’s no use” instead of downing a refreshing glass of ”I’ll find a way”.

The neighbour of Negativity is one to move far away from. Replacing the negative inputs with positive ones, and ‘smoking’ these positive ideas many times daily will burn in a long lasting beneficial effect on the mind.

(* ‘smoking’ positive thoughts is good for your mental health)

Besides, it is a free prescription medicine that you can take to feel better whenever you need it.

“A merry heart does good like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.” Proverbs 17:22 says.

A good way to have a laugh is to relate some of life’s little events in a more humorous fashion. At least when called to mind later it will provoke a smile, as well as having been the source of mirth when relating the tale.

Share a joke, and share the laughter.

There are certain things you know you know, and yet you know you don’t.

One example for myself is in eating more fruit. I know that I know about its goodness, yet I know I don’t fully realise that goodness in my diet.

So this Life Hack is more of a Sensible Hack. After all, it makes sense to do what we know will get good results in the long term.

It has now become a morning ritual to start off the day with at least one fruit. So with breakfast done, I’m at least part way through this Sensible Hack of the day.
